2 day Weekend at 4-Day weekend

It looks like everyone enjoyed my little quiz, though I think all I know now is that we all like still water and can't wait to tell everyone when we win some money.

I have been contemplating buying a keg-fridge for some time now and since last friday was poker night and this Saturday is the big party, it seemed like a good time. The fridge itself was easy enough to obtain, and relitivley easy to assemble. Unfortunatley, the keg itself was a little more difficult. See Phlome's entry today for some helpful info on buying a keg. Suffice it to say that after 5 liquor stores, (one of which apparenlty only exists in the mind of mapquest) we got a keg of Shiner and a full bottle of CO2. I feel the keg-fridge is an environmently conscious purchase. Now I'm not throwing away 80+ empty bottles everytime we play poker.

Poker night proceeded onward without a hitch. We had so many people this time we had to split into 2 tables. I managed to pull down $10 in winnings.

Saturday we headed to downtown Fort Worth. The original plan was to hit Joe T's for margaritas and some mexican, but the line was out the door and around the block so we opted for La Playa Maya, right down the street. It was mediocre at best. Afterwards, we went to see 4-Day weekend, an improv comedy troupe. They were amazing as always.

Sunday was more laid back. I bought one of those wireless dog fences, that is supposed give your dog a little shock if they stray outside the "safe zone." Well either it doesn't work or Mira's fur is too thick to feel it. She happily wandered into and out of the "safe zone", the collar beeping all the while.

Everyone go and congratulate, Ninsi, she just graudauted from the post-layoff stop-loss job to a upwardly mobile position in her field.

Phrase of the day "Suffice to say"

Those fences aren't good for your dogs!

Neither is them digging out under the fence and getting hit by a car. The idea is that they learn the fence is electric in a week or two and then turn it off. Once they know the fence is an "ouchie", they'll avoid it whether or not it's electrified.

I wasn't criticizing you. I just wanted to give you shit! A simple shock is much much better than being hit by a car.

I remember Khuul trying that on Shadow, apparently the shock hurt, but Shadow just got pissed off at the wire and tore it up.

Poor Mira. She's so sweet! Are you not amazed that she has made it this far? The dog is worth her weight in Gold from all of the purses, back-packs, wallets, shoes & cd's she's eaten!!!

Ooops! I almost forgot to mention money that she has kiped from Scotti & Justin!

Reading

I just finshed Codelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold which is the first book of the Vorkosigan Saga.
Very good book, but the Sci-Fi bits are really secondary to the story.

Right now I'm reading The Lost Fleet Series by John Hemry/Jack Campbell It's sorta Honor Harrington but not really, though Honor Harrington even goes downhill in the later novels.
