Live or Memorex?

So here's the thing, who am I? In terms of the blog and real life I mean. Obviously, the blog "me" is is my own creation, shaped and formed by me, into the form I wish to present. That's not really true though. That would require that I thought about and planned out each entry in advance to "present" just the right kind of image. Like I'm doing PR for myself or something. In truth, most days I just write some shit without really thinking about it. (or proofing it for that matter Neko)

So maybe the blog me really is a somewhat authentic me. So some of you know me in RL, and some of you only know me by the blog, but a few of you knew me on the blog first and THEN in RL. Discuss...

Okay, so on identity: it's mitigated or defined by our interactions with other people. The great thing about writing as I said but didn't go into depth on is that it's you being the god of your own universe, where everything comes out perfectly. Your personality as well...I mean, let's say, hypothetically, you're a crack addict blogging. The entire "voice" of the blog is going to be your pure id spilled out, which in this case says, need crack. Or is that superego? Whatever. The people in your life, say your mom or wife or whatever who know that crack has taken over your life and turned you into a monster, their voices aren't present on your odetocrack.blogspot.com blog. It's just, wow, this gives me such a rush! So anyone visiting the blog sees, wow, this guy knows how to party, and doesn't see the, this guy is incontinent and has wrecked his life and the lives of his loved ones, etc.

Now, apply that to your blog, and sure, in a lot of ways it reflects who you are, BUT how much of your identity is culled directly from your desires and your will, and how much is defined by your friends, family, etc? It does tend to reflect your personality but your sardonic wit doesn't come through as strongly as it does in person.

Damn. That should have been an actual post, not comment. Sorry.

lol you should post it on your blog and then link back here

timing is everything in humor, you kinda lose that in the blog

Very well said (written), Bun. It gives one pause to think about what you said.

uh, that's way too much thought for this early in the morning!

Great question... You're so your own spin docotr! I think I have a different perspective & veiw you very differently than most people. In my opinion, you present yourself as you are, to some degree. Perception is reality... However, there are so many different levels to you & to people in general. I don't think the blog world totally presents a clear picture of anyone, however, I don't blog, so what do I know?!?
I digress.. Moving right along, the you that I know isn't really the same guy I read about.
Peace & Love Inc... Care

Your the guy I read about....YOUR SO DREAMY

Your true self so wants to be in the Polyphonic Spree choir.
Trust me.

Reading

I just finshed Codelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold which is the first book of the Vorkosigan Saga.
Very good book, but the Sci-Fi bits are really secondary to the story.

Right now I'm reading The Lost Fleet Series by John Hemry/Jack Campbell It's sorta Honor Harrington but not really, though Honor Harrington even goes downhill in the later novels.
