Liquid Crack

As you may have read over on Phlome's page. The City of Irving, had a vote this weekend to determine if Beer and Wine could be sold locally. Irving has pretty weirdo liquor laws to begin with, that somehow allow Bars but not Liquor stores. The Vote didn't pass so no Beer and wine in Irving in the near future. Maybe this postcard, I got in the mail last Friday, reminding me to vote no, convinced everyone that Beer, wine, and most importantly "Malt Liquor" (known on the streets as liquid crack) was a bad thing for Irving. I was cracking up for hours over the postcard. The really funny thing is that I would have forgotten about the whole thing completely had I not gotten the card, which reminded me to go vote "YES." Maybe I should be thankful it didn't pass, now I don't have "loiterers" infesting my neighborhood.

Okay i just had to share this as well, Dubya is more than a little weird. Btw you need QT to view that link.

pictures should arrive shortly.

you weren't much help yesterday.

maybe i'll show you some liquid crack.

maybe i won't.

that postcard is a sad indictment of just how frightened people can be of the goings-on in 7-11 parking lots.

freaky-deaky.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm......... Liquid Crack

COLT 45!!!!!!

Now that's some fine malt liquor!!!

And who calls it liquid crack? The people drunk on it? I have never heard of such a thing. I think I would give a vagrant money if he said "Hey dude, can a brother get a dollar for some liquid crack?"

And you want to vote for this guy?!??! Christ!

OBGYN love...he's bona fide, isn't he?

nobody knows how to treat a snoopy like an obgyn knows how to treat a snoopy.

why do you think jewish women are so very all about wanting to marry a doctah?

and yes, dubya stuck his foot deep in it with that snippet.

i LOVE the speechless hesitance of the commentator guy after the clip.

classic.

That commentator used to be one of the ESPN Sportscenter guys.

Liquor stores are in the same category as Wal-Mart & Dollar Theaters... Something just says no about all of the above. :-)

oh puhleaze.

there are good wal-marts and there are shit wal-marts.

i live within driving distance of both, but the shit one is closer, and closer to other things.

so i hate it, but we end up going there more often than i care to.

i've been to a good dollar theater too, but it was in augusta, georgia. the floors weren't all sticky, and it didn't smell like pee and sour milk.

if there's a good dollar theater in dfw, i'd like to know about it.

no on to your first point:

i've NEVER been in a bad liquor store.

It seems they always have what i want, even if it's not EXACTLY what i want, there's a reasonable substitute.

and the guys outside the less-upscale ones that are pan-handling don't really bother me all that much. sometimes if you give them a beer on your way out, they'll leave you alone.

Reading

I just finshed Codelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold which is the first book of the Vorkosigan Saga.
Very good book, but the Sci-Fi bits are really secondary to the story.

Right now I'm reading The Lost Fleet Series by John Hemry/Jack Campbell It's sorta Honor Harrington but not really, though Honor Harrington even goes downhill in the later novels.
