Recap

So here ya go a quick recap of what I should have blogged about all last week.

Wednesday - Went to the NIN concert in Austin. Awesome. He played pretty much any NIN song you would want to hear. Also someone poured a beer on Donut, which while not quite as awesome, was funny.

Thursday - Not much, drove home from Austin and hung out with the gang that night for D&D.

Friday - Cleaned the house and the yard in preparation for Saurday's pool party. Halo arrived and we both lost at Poker.

Saturday - Cookout/Pool Party rained out. Some people still showed up and we grilled burgers anyway.

Sunday - Went to the Chruch, a goth club in Dallas, for what has apparently become my annual visit there.

Monday - Played Golf all day with Phlome and Cutter, did pretty well, my second best score ever.

Okay now your caught up. Go read this guys site, it's pretty damn funny.

Naming Standards

My girlfriend mentioned this weekend that she has a cousin named "Robinette." Apparently, they wanted to name her after her mother, Robin, and since you can't call her Robin Jr., she's Robinette. Of course, since she lives near her mother, they can't just call her Robin, that would be confusing. She goes by "ette." I find this more than a little weird.

Okay so you all SAW Star Wars this weekend right? Well if you didn't TOO BAD. Like you don't know how it turns out anyway.

OBI-WAN RIDES A GIANT IGUANA.

I'm not kidding,he even uses it to chase down one of the major bad guys. And let me tell you, that Iguana could haul ass. It was at least as fast as a speeder bike.

Episode III

Saw it last night at 12:01 with the Monketo and a horde of unamded Star Wars Fans. Ther were peope dresed up as Jedi, Sith, and Ewoks(why?). There were many toy lightsabre fights going on,both inside the theatre and out. I thought I was geeky for going to see it at Midnight, but when we got out at 3 am, there were people lined up to see it again. Now that is Hardcore.

I won't give anything away. It was good, not great but good, better than the second one. I'd probably rank it even with RotJ. Lots of lightsabre fights. The Special Effects are superb and the action is pretty much non-stop. I'll hold all my other comments till at least Monday. If you haven't seen it by then you probably don't care about spoilers anyway.

Monketo swears the version we saw was missing a reel in the middle, depriving us of some much needed scenes. I'm not so sure. I guess I'll find out when I see it again on Friday.

I actually spent this weekend at home for once. Friday, I saw Unleashed, the new Jet Li movie. Eh not so good IMO. If you've seen the trailer you've seen the movie. Jet Li's martial arts were spectacular as always but ya know they'd be just as spectacular in a movie with some story.

Saturday hung out with Friends at Spike, cool place even if they couldn't make a decent Dirty Martini, the food was excellent.

Sunday I was invited along to see Dave Atell. Ya know that guy from Insomniac on Comedy Central. Great show, the local Dallas comedian who was the opening act was better than the guy Atell brough with him on tour. I heard the Dallas guy won Last Comic Standing too.

Other than that I worked on the house and the pool, it's gone from black to brown to green, to just mearly cloudy. I definitely won't skip out on the "pool closing" duties this year like I did last year, and a new pool cover would probably help. One that actually keeps stuff out of the pool.

I'm back from Maine now. Yeesh that is a long flight. Left Augusta Tuesday aroung 4pm EST and got home at 10:30 PM CST. I watched "21 grams" on the place. Pretty good movie,it jumps around in time a lot, similar to "Memento" but not quite as structured.

I worked in the yard yesterday, cleaning it up and getting redy to start working on the pool. Phlome and I took the cover off the pool, only to discover 3 very dead, very smelly squirrles. The pool needs some serious cleaning.

Where have I been?

Well, currently I'm in Maine. Some of you may remember I came here a little over a year ago. It's much improved since then, at least from my point of view. My hotel has high speed internet,my cell phone works normally and I wasn't "detained" at security in Boston.

I've been home in Oklahoma for most of the last 2 weeks and every weekend since the beginning of April, taking care of family.

I did go see Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Kingdom of Heaven. Hitchhikers was great! Very funny. Kingdom of heaven was okay I guess. It definitely wasn't up to the standards of Ridley Scott's other movies.

Reading

I just finshed Codelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold which is the first book of the Vorkosigan Saga.
Very good book, but the Sci-Fi bits are really secondary to the story.

Right now I'm reading The Lost Fleet Series by John Hemry/Jack Campbell It's sorta Honor Harrington but not really, though Honor Harrington even goes downhill in the later novels.
