Airline Idletime

I spent nearly all day yesterday either at the airport or on plane. My flight was supposed to leave White Plains, NY at 6 AM, so I got to the airport by 4:30. After sitting on the Runway for 2 hours we were told the flight was cancelled, because there was a huge storm over Chicago. I wanted in line for an hour for American to get my flight rebooked on Northwest so I could get home by going through Detroit. I then waited in line ANOTHER hour to get checked in on Northwest. I finally left NY at around 12:30 and got back to Dallas around 5 PM.

While I was sitting in the airport I had plenty of time to read Wired magazine. Here’s some cool stuff I found that might interest you:

Negadon: A 25 Minute all CGI film in the style of Godzilla.

The TED Prize.
I’d never heard of this. It stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design and is given to innovators and visionaries in one of these three areas. Some of the people who have won a are truly amazing. Winners get one wish, which the TED foundation attempts to grant.

Reading

I just finshed Codelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold which is the first book of the Vorkosigan Saga.
Very good book, but the Sci-Fi bits are really secondary to the story.

Right now I'm reading The Lost Fleet Series by John Hemry/Jack Campbell It's sorta Honor Harrington but not really, though Honor Harrington even goes downhill in the later novels.
