After multiple trips to 2 different vets and more money than i like to think about they have finally figured out what is wrong with Mira. If you don't know, Mira is my dog, I've had her since she was a puppy and she's ten years old now. For the past year nearly she';shad a problem with going to the the bathroom in the house. Nothing we did seemed to get her to stop. Then we noticed she was drinking lots and lots of water, and that her hair had stopped growing. These are all symptoms of Cushing's Disease. She has over-active pituitary glands. Which causes, increased hunger, thirst, and very little hair growth. The treatment is a pretty serious medication, is basically Chemotherapy for a dog. It can me her sick and has some serious side effects. Though we really don't have any other choice, the other option is that she'll just keep getting worse.

So I don't have the excuse that I'm working on my paper anymore, I'm just lazy I guess. There's really not much to write about though. Elanna is out of town this week, visiting her family and friends in OK. We did a 50 mile bike rally this past weekend, our longest one yet! It was nice ride except for the cold in the morning, and the 10 mile stretch into the wind. We decided we definitely need to get some arm and leg warmers if we are going to do anymore autumn rides.
I haven't been doing to much this week, mostly working out at home and catching up on the entire season of Stargate Atlantis. They killed off a main character BTW, not in a really spectacular way either. Other than that I've been playing Overlord and WoW and reading RPG books that I may or may not use for a Steampunk game, that may never happen. I am liking playing CoC better than D&D though. It's nice for a change to use a simple yet functional rule-set.
So everyone's taken those online personality quizzes that tell you which Jedi Knight, Care Bear, or Smurf your are like. Today I took the actual personality test, the Meyers Briggs Personality Index, MBPI. I came out an ENTJ, which means Extroverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Judging. The actual numbers are 11% on Extroverted, 25% Intuitive and Thinking, and 67% Judging. That pretty close to what I got when I took it in college. I was XNFJ, which means that I wasn't really extroverted or introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Judging. So apparently as I've gotten older I've become less feeling, more extroverted, and more thinking. The whole introverted/extroverted thing doesn't make sense to me anyway. I know people who are extroverted ALL the time, and some who are introverted all the time. I think for most people it's completely situational. For example, I am y extroverted at work and with my friends, and even in random social situations. However, sometimes I act introverted, not because I'm uncomfortable in a social situation, but because I just don't feel like talking to people. Other times, I'm actually uncomfortable talking to new people.
Whew, the term paper is finally done. I turned it in today, 2 days early. It had 36 references and it actually came out exactly to the required 15 pages. I'm not quite sure how I managed that. I could post it for you to look at but it's dreadfully boring. It caused me pain to have to proof read it.
Elanna and I did lots of Biking this past weekend in preparation for the Rally in Mineral Wells this coming weekend. We did a spin class on Friday, Rode 47 Miles Saturday, and then 20 miles on Sunday just for fun and so Elanna could take pictures of the storks at the lake.
Khuul is out of the hospital now, feeling better but still not fully recovered. He's still got a fever so they are trying to nail down a reason for it. Yesterday he told me they were "culturing his drainage" which sounds like something you have to do to the Enterprise to get the warp drive to work. "We've got to culture the drainage or we'll never make Warp 6! "
The fact that I can buy most RPG books now online in PDF may be my downfall. I mean it's just too easy, I see an RPG product that looks cool. I type in my paypal ID and TADA I download the book. It's like a vending machine for crack. I often buy BOTH the pdf and the actual book of some games. Having the PDF makes it easy to print out stuff and hand it to players during a game.
So I've recently been reading xkcd, the webcomic, which is good, btw, if you don't read it. Rev Layle reminded me about it yesterday. I'd seen it before, but like with so many other things on the web, I forgot about it. I was reading back through the archives, and saw this one. Which led me to go..eh what?
So I googled* "jimmy carter attacked by rabbit" and I got this, as the very first response. That is scary weird. Random phrase leads right to what I was looking for. William Gibson says one day we will all have a link to google in our brains and we won't have to remember anything. I can only hope that it will improve my spelling.
*how big to you have to be before your website name becomes a verb?
Right now, on Ebay, for the low price for 1.5 million you can be the proud owner of a former Nuclear missile Silo! You can see some photos here as well. I'm not sure what the heck you would do with it if you did buy it. I picture some David Koresh cult leader sitting there asking them self "Should I?"
Here's a fairly unscientific survey that matches your views to those of the current candidates both Democratic and Republican. Apparently, I should like Dennis Kusinich, though I was only a 60% match.
For those of you that know Khuul, he is doing very well. Elanna and I went and saw him last night and he was handling the surgery very well. They removed the tumor from his colon last Thursday, not he's got 3-4 weeks of recovery before starting Chemo. Email me if you want more info.
The research paper is chugging along, well slowly anyway, since I should be working on it now rather than blogging, but I digress. The instructions said that the paper should "not be more than 15 pages." I'm unsure if that means "It better be 15 pages." or "Please god don't write more than 15 pages." I'm not going to ask, I have no idea how long mine will turn out to be but doubt it will be 15 pages, more like 12-13.
On a completely unrelated note, check out these guys who built a 21 foot X-Wing Rocket!
Last Monday was our first anniversary. So happy Anniversary again! Since I didn't make a post last week. I fixed her a nice dinner at home on Monday and then we went out on Tuesday night to see the Lion King. The show itself was pretty good, lot's of puppetry was used for people to portray the animals. Some of it was really neat, like the elephant, and some of it was just plain weird, like the panther that looked like it has a woman sticking out of it's back. The bad part was, of course, that Lion King is a kids shows, so there were lots of kids. Not that I don't like kids, but 5-11 year olds just can't sit still that long.
Last week was really busy here at work. We were working late most days staging a new network and finally got the stuff shipped out on Thursday.
Elanna and I did some biking this weekend and I took the Mid Term for my Project Management class. I've started working on the Term Paper, but as I thought, it's none to exciting.
My gaming group is starting out new campaign this week. I put up a web page for the campaign here.
