I'm sure everyone knows that you are entitled to, by law, one free credit report per year. What I did not know, is that you can request that free credit report online at https://www.annualcreditreport.com I was able to get both my Experian, and Equifax reports right away. Transunion says I already have an account with them and I have to call them to reset my password. I think they are just being difficult.
I highly recommend looking at all three, there was a vast difference between my equifax and experian reports in terms of former addresses. You can even dispute somethings online, though it seems very limited. I was able to dispute 2 incorrect former addresses but not the other 3.
The only problem is that you have to wait another full calendar year before you can get your government mandated free report. If you want to use it to keep an eye on your credit, best thing is to get one every four months and rotate through the three bureaus.
I didn't have much discrepancy between my three credit reports. But what I did have is fucking Experian having reported my DOB wrong, which has caused some problems. So they outsource that kind of thing to another company which does not allow you to submit corrections online. And Experian didn't follow up with my complaints submitted online either.
Experian may have your DoB wrong, but that is because one of the creditors reported it to them as that. Until and unless that creditor stops reporting it, it will continue to show up.
