Campaign Wrap-up
Plots:
The
Black Company: The Black company would have come to the next Tribunal, but since they are
not members of the Tribunal they couldn’t do much but present their case and
hope for the best. If the characters
support them they would gain a strong ally against Horsingas. However, no matter what the Tribunal decided
the Queasitor from Horsingas would have declared it invalid. Hellious would not have enough authority to
over-rule her verdict. This would have
established an on-going rivalry between Negrath and Horsingas.
Horsingas: They are “the bad guys” in this campaign. They would have been constant trouble for
the covenant. As you can see by the
last few turns in the game they were willing and able to use force against other
magi. Edwin would have gotten away at
the initial encounter and become a recurring villain.
Clan
MacGruagach: This covenant would have been very friendly
to Negrath. You were able to resolve
the disputed Vis with no hard feelings.
They aren’t very powerful themselves but they would have provided aid
against Horsingas and probably back any move Negrath made at the Tribunal.
Crun
Clach: This plot never really got
started. Crun Clach was the political
mover and shaker in this Tribunal. They
may or may not have allied with the Negrath.
They would have always acted in their own best interests. The interesting thing about this plot was
that I made this covenant before I knew Briana’s background. Crun Clach has strong ties to the fairy kingdom
and would have been very friendly to Briana and Arthur.
The
Covenant Magi
Abbadon: The second major plot of the campaign was going to
revolve around Abbadon. This guy was
evil and demonic. He was the reason
the covenant fell into winter in the first place. He has the brains of all the
Magi that have died in Negrath in jars in his lab. (EWWW) He speaks to them on
a regular basis. He was going to start
sending the Magi out on missions to gather items that he needed for a
ritual. These items were actually part
of a Demonic Ritual that if completed would bring about the ruin of the
covenant. If you succeed in stopping
him the covenants magic aura would have been raised as Abbadon has been
draining it for years. Solomon and
Hellious would have been drawn into this plot heavily.
Lumistous: Lumistous originally set the plans in motion to recruit the new
magi. He has suspected Abbadon of Demonology
for a long time. When the Abbadon plot
was resolved Lumistous would have faded away into pure magic leaving all his
lab and books to the covenant.
MacGruder: MacGruder was always an outsider to the rest of the
Covenant. He has no knowledge of Abbadon’s plans. He agreed to allow new magi in the covenant because he was
bored. MacGruder was a nick-of –time
savior if the characters got into deep trouble. He also has many contacts with the mythic creatures of Scotland and could be persuaded to form an
alliance with them if needed.
Ignacious: A human sized crow with all the powers of a full
Magi. This guy was pure comic
relief. (DOH! The crow fire-balled a cow again.)
Character
Plots:
Hellious/Grond: Hellious wasn’t so much a Demon Hunter as a Demonologist. He would hunt down Demons only to gain their
power. He would have been deeply
involved in Abbadons plot. Hellious was
so far gone that he had actually cut off his left hand and replaced it with a
small demon he had summoned. A small
sub-plot for Grond was that there is a race of giants that live in Scotland
similar to his ancestors. The covenant
could have used this to gain allies among the Giants.
Solomon/Santiago: Solomon’s background may have led him down the path
of Demonology. He would have been
sorely tempted by Abbadon to do so. Abbadon was going to take on Solomon and be
his “guide” to further magical power.
This would have put Solomon in a good position to either hinder or help
Abbadon at the right time. Santiago
was a werewolf. He would have to work
hard to keep this hidden. Most of the
Covenfolk would have fled in fear had they known this fact.
Domongart/Sithec: Domongart would have become
embroiled with Abaddon and Hellious because of his Demon Plague. He would have been the first to notice that
both were “not quite right” Eventually, Both Hellious and Abbadon would have
tried to kill Dom. I also had an
entire adventure planned around Sithec.
The mother of a Dragon he had slain would come looking for revenge. The covenant would have to band together to
defeat this powerful menace.
Pholme/Milnan: These two didn’t have any real plots revolving around them. They
were the ultimate foil. If any other
the other character plots (Abbadon’s Plan, Hellious’s Demonology, etc.) were
getting out of hand then Phlome/Milan would “accidentally” stumble upon the
plot.
Briana/Arthur: These characters fit perfectly with the Fairie nature of Crun
Clach. Crun Clach would have gone to
great lengths to try and recruit both Briana and Arthur for their knowledge of
the Fey. This put Briana in a good
position to make Crun Clach a strong ally against Horsingas.
